About the series

This series of paintings captures my personal journey, reflecting on cherished moments from my childhood that bring me joy when I reminisce. Each artwork revolves around a specific theme from my past, something that holds significant meaning or that I often ponder upon. These paintings serve as a way for me to preserve these precious memories that gradually fade away over time.

While I'm at a stage in my life where I eagerly anticipate buying a house, starting a family, and pursuing my career, I believe it's important to occasionally look back and appreciate the accomplishments and experiences that have shaped me. These paintings embody a sense of spontaneity and freedom, reminiscent of the carefree nature of childhood itself. They are a fusion of various emotions, woven together into a single image, much like a collage.

About this work

This painting captures my earliest memories, moments I fondly look back on with a nostalgic sentiment, thinking, "Ah, where has the time gone?" To recall these memories, I had to reflect deeply because they were so intricately tucked away. These moments serve as the roots of my childhood, the foundation of my personality, shaping me into who I am today.

Not only are the objects and characters depicted in this painting connected to those memories, but the colors also hold significance. The red hue evokes a warm feeling, reminiscent of the living room in the house where I grew up. The blue color is linked to Ostend and the sense of freedom I experienced during those periods of my life.

There's a sense of chaos in this piece, which, in my opinion, perfectly reflects the atmosphere of that time and the complexity of my mind as I attempt to recall the beginnings of my life. It's a collection of fragmented pieces in my mind, seemingly disconnected, yet each holds such importance that they have stayed with me.
