I love my stuff 3/3
2023 - Acryllic paint, spraypaint and acryllic markers on canvas - 60x80 cm
About the series
In this series of paintings, I have depicted the possessions that hold a special place in my heart. As we live in a world that values material possessions, I find joy and comfort in the things that I own. My passions include playing the guitar, gaming, shopping for clothes, painting, drawing, creating illustrations, graphic design, and listening to music.
During the process of creating these paintings, I felt overwhelmed by the multitude of hobbies I had taken on. It seemed like I was juggling too many balls at once, and I struggled to find a balance in my life that incorporated all of my interests. It was then that I decided to start this project, as a way to bring all the 'things that I love' together in one place, in one row.
About this work
This artwork is a tribute to my computer and the game that has captured my heart for 190 hours - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Developed by CD Projekt Red and released in 2015, it has become my all-time favorite game.
The shapes in this piece are inspired by the LED lights and angles of my computer's internal components. The sword in the foreground bears a striking resemblance to Aerondight, a sword from The Witcher 3 that is deeply cherished by the protagonist, Geralt of Rivia. In the game, the sword glows when used, which is why I incorporated yellow spray paint into the artwork.
The Elven word "Gwynbleidd" means "White Wolf," which is the name Geralt is also known by. This is why I chose to include it in the artwork. The buttons X, Y, B, and A, which resemble the buttons on my Xbox controller, are also a nod to my gaming experience.
While these elements may seem random to others, they have lived in my head for years, which is why it was essential for me to give them a permanent place in this artwork. This piece holds a special meaning to me and serves as a reminder of the joy that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and my computer have brought to my life.
